ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) here on Monday launched Annual Report indicated that telecom revenues reached a reco
rd breaking Rs 955 billion in Financial Year 2023-24 with an average revenue per User (ARPU) of Rs 302 per month in April June 2024.
According to report, investment in the sector totaled US$ 765 million contributing a substantial Rs 335 billion to the national exchequer in terms of taxes and duties.

ubscribers have reached to 196 million, the report said. The report further said that broadband s
ubscribers reached to 142.3 million, mobile s
ubscribers reached to 193.4 million. Fixed line s
ubscribers reached to 2.6 million while mobile broadband s
ubscribers reached to 138.7 million and Fixed broadband s
ubscribers 3.6 million.
The PTA achieved remarkable progress vis-à-vis nationwide expansion of telecom coverage, improving accessibility and connectivity for millions.
Cellular mobile services now reach 91 percent of Pakistan’s population, with 3G/4G signals reaching over 81 percent.
By June 2024 there were 55,777 operational cell sites, 95.5 percent supporting 4G.
These efforts drove a surge in the number of broadband s
ubscribers which reached 142.3 million by September 2024 reflecting a remarkable 91 percent growth over last five years.
On the occasion PTA Chairman Hafiz-ur Rehman said not no Virtual Private Network (VPNs) have been blocked and there is not plan to do so. He said, “We have said it before, and I repeat it now: we could block VPNs, but we won’t. To date, no VPNs have been blocked.”
